Do I need a brochure, leaflet or a magazine?
Our team of brand specialists are often getting asked which is better; leaflets, brochures or magazines. Depending on the
type of business sector and information to advertise, influences what we would recommend is best for you. Each form of
paper advertisement is different and portrays the information differently. Brochures and leaflets are often used for more
educational purposes, whereas magazines are used for a visual appeal.
Leaflets
A leaflet is a form of booklet that is used to provide information or educate people, which are often bi or tri-fold
documents. This is where one sheet of paper is folded two or three times, into equal panels which are then referred
to as pages.
Leaflets are small, unbound booklets used to advertise one quick message in a brief manner. For example, the most common
business’ to use leaflets include; doctors, beauticians and schools. This is because they are an educational setting, wanting to
provide information quickly.
Brochures
A brochure is a small booklet which is used to provide information about what a company has to offer. These are often
image based and more affordable due to the binding. However if you are wanting to create a more luxurious brochure
the thickness of paper and finish can be altered as well as adding protective covers to the front and back.
Brochures are used to advertise what services a business has to offer to existing and potential customers. For example;
hotels and travel agencies are most popular for using brochures and are often distributed through the post, in
introduction packs or alongside an order.

Magazines
A magazine is a thin bound booklet, often with thin glossy pages. These feature a variety of content including;
articles, photos and adverts. Magazines are mainly published on a weekly, monthly or quarterly schedule.
Magazines are used to provide specific, genre related information, updates and photos. For example; fashion, social,
technology and printing based industries use magazines as they are often more visually appealing compared to
brochures and leaflets.
